Justin de Guzman Remixes “Leave The World Behind”

2010 January 31

Anthem ‘Leave The World Behind’ by Axwell, Ingrosso, Angello & Laidback Luke featuring Deborah Cox on the vocals. has taken the year 2009 by storm. For those who don’t know, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello are the Swedish House Mafia. Check out the original mix in this video.

With tracks waiting their respective release dates, Justin has been working on some remixes on the side. Here are two remixes of the massive club destroyer. One is a take on the same feel. The other, the deeper mix, uses the usual rhodes-driven sound of Justin.

SPiNTECH Interview

2009 December 21
by Admin

Mick Barroga, better known as SPiNTECH, just released his highly anticipated album, “Electrogruvjunkie“. The release contains an eclectic variety of tracks showcasing his various styles and influences. Here, we have the veteran telling us more about himself.

Deeper Manila: How old are you?
Mick Barroga: I’m 40 going on 25 with 15 years experience hahaha…

DM: Where did the “SPiNTECH” moniker come from?
MB: It was originally the name of our mobile dj group back in around 89’, then I kept that name till then as a solo artist.

DM: What got you into Deeper Manila?
MB: The house music

DM: How did you start and come into the house music scene?
MB:  I started DJing at first, then eventually migrated to producing remixes then originals after that.

DM: What distinguishes you amongst the rest?
MB: I play originals and remixes of my own with my sets.

DM: Where do you get your inspiration? Does it differ from each track/project?
MB:  It really depends on the vibe I get that day.  Sometime I takes days or a few minutes, I just surprise myself as I produce.

DM: Describe your sound. What influences your music?
MB: Mostly DJ friendly tracks of electro, funky, house, soulful, dance tracks

DM: Has music always been part of your life?
MB: It’s my lifestyle

DM: House/electronic/dance music keeps on changing constantly. How do you keep your sound pure?
MB: I’m critical with creating my own vsti presets most of the times and I create a vibe based on how it feels.

DM: Do you have a favorite venue you like to gig at?
MB: If it’s outdoors with thousands of people and the speakers are loud, that’s my favorite venue.

DM: Describe the house/electronic/dance music scene in the Philippines.
MB: The DJ scene is a bit pretentious, not to disrespect anyone.  It needs more than just mixing from A to B.  We need more guys playing originals and not just bootleg exclusives.  Plus adding the live performance of sequencing, sampling and the works to add to the vibe.

DM: Favorite food?
MB: 12” Vinyl hahaha…

Electrogruvjunkie is out now on digital stores.

2009 December 16

As the year ends, we leave you with the last two releases of 2009. Lights On My Face and Electrogruvjunkie will be out by the end of this week. After that, we’ll be organizing some things to prepare for a more orderly year. We are happy to announce that SPiNTECH’s Electrogruvjunkie will be released on Deeper Manila. That’s his first release on this label. Watch out for that. We hope 2010 will be bigger for us as we are still a growing label.

Hippsoul feat. Chill – Paradise

2009 December 15

I first heard the track “Paradise” on the “Defected In The House Eivissa 2006″ CD. It’s a three-disc compilation of mixes. Disc 1 and 2 were mixed by Defected boss, Simon Dunmore. Disc 3 was mixed by DJ Pippi. Generally, the whole package sounds organic and soulful. Note: Google is here for you.

Among all the tracks featured in all mixes, “Paradise” by Hippsoul and Chill really stuck to me. It’s 2009 and I still love it. It’s got jazzy licks and chords from the Rhodes (best instrument ever!). It’s got some latin influences. The percussion just lays there perfectly. You just have to hear it.

Also, another favorite from Eivissa 2006 is KB – Feelin U (Yoruba Soul Mix). Osunlade never fails me. Every track he makes is just pure soul. His music making is spiritual to him. You can definitely hear the soul in his works.

Lastly, still from Eivissa 2006, Peven Everett’s “Just A Girl”. Nu-soul singer Peven Everett causes serious damage with this soulful bomb. Also, check out Peven Everett – Stuck.

Git cho Defected Records on.

- Justin

by Admin

Hey, hey! Late comer this year and yet it quickly launches up, up, way up as the track of the year. Probably will take over early 2010 as well. Get this mammoth of a track! Man, that’s just a big, big track.

Caution: Building may collapse upon playing.
